Once upon a time in ZBrush

This project started out as a portrait bust of my roomie but I decided to change the features and turn him into a game character. I'm using ZBrush for sculpting and Autodesk 3ds Max for hardsurface modeling (suspenders, shoes, belt, and buckle)

Below are w.i.p screencaps of high-poly sculpt.

After a few more tweaks, he'll be ready for retopologizing. I wish I had Topogun 2 :(

Space Seattle

This one is for photobashing assignment. It started out as a simple galaxy background for Banana Sundae piece. Then it evolved into what you see here. I had the rough vision of what the place should look like. I wanted to have futuristic skyscrapers towering above the city's skyline and some random space crafts flying about.

I found a photo of chrome-colored IronMan boots in exact same angle and position as Sundae's boots.
So, I grab a helmet off of the internet and decided to give her some upgrades.

and put her on this background

Kosmo's Final Review Reel

Kosmo's Final Review Reel from Kevin Kosmo on Vimeo.

This is the revised version of the reel I compiled for my Final Review at the Art Institute of Washington. If I pass this review, I'll be graduating in December 2014.

The animation segments have audio. So, keep the sound on. Ok?

Wait for the post-credit scene, too!

My first try at ZBrushing

Bun Bun by kevinkosmo on deviantART

So, when I was in Ai Minnesota, Leah and I came up with character designs for animal version of ourselves. (go check out her awesome animation stuff on ljenister.com)

Here is Leah's concept.

She's wearing a torn-tennisball hat and a supercute bunny panty.
There's a sketch for watermelon hat, too, .. somewhere in my book.

annd the next one is my version.

So, it took me a couple of days watching tutorials on Digital Tutors. Bun Bun took one weekend from the start to finish. The hardest part is setting up lights and trying to get the best render result (Trial & Error eat up a lot of time).

Wish I tried ZBrush sooner. There's more of this kind of stuff to come :)

Cheers!

Aaron Taylor Johnson Vs...

This is a 2-page comic I made for Special Topics class.
(Spring2014, Media Arts & Animation program @ the Art Institute of Washington)

It's sort of a web-redemption for Aaron Taylor Johnson for his poor performance in a very recent movie.
Now THIS is what I'm talking about!

24 Hour Challenge - Theme: Cereal Mascots

24-Hr challenge is an event in which many Media Art students of Ai Washington trap themselves in school (sometimes against their will) to compete 'Arting' on a given theme.... be it 3D models, Illustrations, sculptures, comic-book pages, or animation of any kind.... within 24-hr time-frame.

Winner gets the belt (from the current champ) and take home some swell prize items.

This quarter's theme is Cereal Mascots.

My idea was to have some famous cereal mascots photo-bombed by popular characters of the same species. Never really gotten past Frosted Flakes though...because I started painting Usagi Yojimbo as a photo-bomber for Trix Rabbit. (and ended up being distracted inspired to make a painting. Uh..check it out in previous blog-post.)

Staying Up All Night To Get Lucky in Sin City

Staying Up All Night To Get Lucky in Sin City by kevinkosmo on deviantART

This piece is done  in LayerPaint app on my Galaxy Note 10.1. It has the feel of sleekness that you get when you're drawing on the whiteboard using a marker.
