Guardian Angie, MS Paint, 2976 x 2928

Guardian Angie by ~kevinkosmo on deviantART

This is my original character design.
Started out with the drawing of a pretty face in MS Paint.
Then, I got an idea of this. So, started sketching out the body in my sketchbook.
Imported the sketch into MS Paint and painted the the whole artwork using the default brush (yep. default one. It was like painting with a ball-point pen)

3D Studio Max project: PSP 2000

It was fun modeling a PSP.
I started learning 3D Studio Max a few weeks ago.
It was quite challenging at first but now I'm beginning to get a hang of this.

Trial and Error, baby !

And, there's a video, too!

Jackson as Ben10's Way Big

Jackson as Ben10 Way Big by ~kevinkosmo on deviantART

This is a fan art for a fan boy. Lil Jackson is 10 years old and he's a big fan of Ben10. He requested a portrait of him in the alien Way Big form. So, this is what I came up with.

Loki

I was experimenting with the style. I wanted a flat chiroscuro with distinct linework between light and dark at first. That's why I left the lines on the face on purpose. But I ended up going for rather realistic rendering than the comicbook-ish look I initially intended to go for.

Alternative Designs for Dylan-5

So, Dylan-5 went through a lot of design changes.
And here is a bunch of his 'different looks' that i was talkin' bout.
Look, there's a female version, too !

Dylan-5

Dylan-5 is an assignment I did for Character and Object Design class.

It's about a Robot Police from Michinneapolis who went

undercover to blend in and bring down a gang called "iDroids."

The idea is inspired by one of my own drawings I did awhile back, titled "Droid Dude Dwight."
Check it out.

After making up my mind to go with this story, I started thumbnailing and sketching out possible 'cop looks' for Dylan-5 since I already have his undercover appearance.

Throughout the process, my character went through a number of different looks and iterations, including but not limited to a transformer SUV cop, a trench-coat wearing inspector robot, a British police android, a steampunk law enforcer, or even a Bender ripoff cop. Finally, I picked a simple, pragmatic design that is not very different from Dylan's gangster look. Once, I have a design to go with, I started painting the journey begins painting where Dylan-5 is seen trying on the upgrades and undercover gear. I used the photo-reference for the painting.

Then comes the sculpting part. It's my first time sculpting and it was fun. I'm a little challenged when it comes to handling the clay but I'm a natural everything...so. In all seriousness though, I end up sculpting the shapes I'm comfortable shaping rather than being faithful to Dylan-5's appearance from the painting. In other words, instead of controlling the clay, the clay controlled me to some extent. But my final sculpture turned out looking great. Even though it does not look exactly like his design from the painting, it is close enough.
